    • Librarian and Educator databases
      • Novelist Plus - reader's advisory
        • Advanced search > options for audience, award winners, tools relating to diversity of authorship, regular search is powerful too. Search "appeal factors"
        • Ex "gritty" appeal factor AND "mystery" genre
  • Kansans > Digital Book Lending
    • 4 platforms for adults
      • Cloud Library is biggest platform and instructions include - ebooks and audiobook
      • Enki Library ebooks only. works with Adobe Digital Editions and load it into that platform. more challenging to use
      • Freading similar to hoopla, unlimited, doesn't have as many best sellers or big authors as cloudlibrary
      • ComicsPlus - not a moble app, designed for desktop use. Comics targeted for kids, not as many superhero style comics (some but not classics). not really graphic novels. intended for kids/young adults
    • other platforms for kids

CATALOG

  • scroll down to "User Resources> Kansas Library Catalog"
    • 2 catalogs
      • one just for state library (resources in state library building in Topeka ... it's more hidden/limited)
      • one consolidated catalog for libraries in the state
        • Ex: "Legend of the candy cane"
      • multiple records for the same item
      • detailed item record tells you all the libraries in state of kansas system that have the book. not all libraries participate in the catalog (smaller staff don't contribute to catalog, but the majority of them do and school libraries are included).
        • ex. WorldCat doesn't tend to include school libraries but State Library catalog does.
      • if you're an interlibrary loan librarian, it'd be useful but patrons just use this to know which nearby library would have the book
