The majority of the library's website, databases, and search tools are available to you in China. You may experience some slower loading times when accessing the library's databases and resources. Below are some tips to help you have the best library experience from abroad.
Go directly to http://search.library.fhsu.edu/ to bypass the image-heavy library homepage. You can also share this link with your students. If there is a resource in our catalog that you are unable to access/download the full text (due to bandwidth, timeouts, slow loading), please send an email to refserv@fhsu.edu or contact us using the form on our Chinese/English library guide with the title, authors, and date and we will provide the PDF.
For faculty abroad, a VPN connection will provide the best access to Forsyth Library's resources. Follow the instructions for connecting to the FHSU VPN in order to improve your access.
A short list of databases recommended to support the academic programs at Sias and SNU that are more reliable in accessing them from China have been listed under the "Recommended for Sias/SNU" database type list and will have a China flag icon next to them.
Most Interlibrary Loan services are still available to you while teaching abroad as many materials can be electronically delivered (articles, book chapters, document delivery). If you come across a citation or a resource that Forsyth Library doesn't have or if you see an item in the catalog that is physically on Forsyth Library shelves that you'd like a portion scanned and delivered to you, submit an ILL request.
