By default, address bar URLs in Proquest databases look something like this:
See how the link incorporates the database name (ABI/Inform), current view (full text), and an ID number for the document? It doesn't have any information specific to your search session. This is already a permalink. It should work later if you're on campus.
But, you might want to use the official permalink because it's shorter--more convenient for citations--and you definitely need to add the proxy prefix if you want the link to work from off campus. You'll find the official permalink on the "Abstract/Details" tab near the bottom of the page with the label "Document URL":
Be sure to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the permalink so that it will work from off campus, like so:
http://ezproxy.fhsu.edu:2048/login?url=https://search.proquest.com/docview/849563481?accountid=27424
Now this permalink is ready to use!
When you're looking at the details page for a periodical (such as a journal, magazine, or newspaper) in one of the Proquest databases, you won't see an official permalink. By default, the address bar URL is a permalink and doesn't contain any information specific to your session. It looks something like this:
https://search.proquest.com/publication/publications_30135?accountid=27424
However, be sure to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the permalink so that it will work from off campus, like so:

Proquest Ebook Central, formerly called Academic Complete eBrary, is one of our largest ebook databases and contains some books with unlimited user licenses that are appropriate for use as course materials. You can link to the record for an book, or to a specific page of the book (useful for assigning specific chapters).
You'll find the permalink on the left side of the item record, underneath the cover image. It is labeled as "Share Link to Book" and looks like this:
Be sure to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the permalink so that it will work from off campus, like so:
While you're there, check the "availability" field to make sure we have enough copies for your class. For instance, this book, Best Practices for the Inclusive Classroom, says, "Your institution has access to 1 copy of this book." If you plan to assign the book to your class, make sure the availability field says, "Your institution has unlimited access to this book."
Click on the "Read Online" link on the left side of the record (shown above) and navigate to the page you want to link to. Then, use the link icon above the reading pane, which looks like two links of a chain, to get a permalink to the page you are currently viewing. The interface looks like this:
You'll get a permalink that looks something like this, with the page number on the end:
https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/fhsu/reader.action?docID=999320&ppg=353
Be sure to add the proxy prefix to the beginning of the permalink so that it will work from off campus, like so:
Now this permalink is ready to use!
