Citation Tracing
When doing larger research projects that require you to follow the scholarly conversation, you may find it helpful to use a research method called “citation tracing.” When you find a source that seems promising, you should do two things:
- Look BACKWARDS at the References List to see what older sources it has cited

- Look FORWARDS to see what newer sources have cited it since it has been published
(who cites this article)
