Cinema Journal publishes essays on a wide variety of subjects from (using) diverse methodological perspectives. A "Professional Notes" section informs Society for Cinema and Media Studies members about upcoming events, research opportunities, and the latest published research.

Camera Obscura provides a forum for scholarship and debate on feminism, culture, and media studies. The journal encourages contributions in areas such as the conjunctions of gender, race, class, and sexuality with audiovisual culture; new histories and theories of film, television, video, and digital media; and politically engaged approaches to a range of media practice

The Journal of Film and Video, an internationally respected forum, focuses on scholarship in the fields of film and video production, history, theory, criticism, and aesthetics. Article features include film and related media, problems of education in these fields, and the function of film and video in society. The Journal does not ascribe to any specific method but expect articles to shed light on the views and teaching of the production and study of film and video.

Film Criticism is a peer-reviewed, online publication bringing together scholarship in the field of cinema and media studies since 1975.

Studies in Documentary Film is the first refereed scholarly journal devoted to the history, theory, criticism and practice of documentary film. In recent years we have witnessed an increased visibility for documentary film through conferences, the success of general theatrical releases and the re-emergence of scholarship in documentary film studies.

Film History focuses on the historical development of the motion picture and the social, technological, and economic context in which this has occurred. Science Fiction Film and Television is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal published by Liverpool University Press. It encourages dialogue among the scholarly and intellectual communities of film studies, sf studies and television studies.

The Velvet Light Trap is a journal devoted to investigating historical questions that illuminate the understanding of film, television, and other media. It publishes articles and interviews written with the highest scholarly standards yet accessible to a broad range of readers.

The Canadian Journal of Film Studies / Revue canadienne d'études cinématographiques is Canada's leading academic peer-reviewed film journal. They have published bi-annually since launching in 1990.

International Journal of Computer Games Technology publishes original research and review articles on both the research and development aspects of games technology covering the whole range of entertainment computing and interactive digital media.

Movie: A Journal of Film Criticism is a new online, free-to-access journal which is a joint venture between the Universities of Reading, Warwick, and Oxford. It is the successor to MOVIE, the influential magazine launched in 1962, which played a crucial role in shaping the way we think and write about film.

Rejecting the dichotomies of ‘high' and ‘low' cinema, Film International embraces debate on how film interacts with the broader culture, history and economy of society. This magazine aims to encourage critical study and public discussion of the role of moving images in our society, bridging the gap between academics and cineastes.
