What is a Book Review?

Book reviews provide an overview of a scholarly history book and assesses their value to the field. This helps you judge if a book will be useful to you for your research project. They may also lead to new sources.

American Historical Review
Presents articles, review articles, substantial numbers of book reviews and lists of recently published books in all areas of American history.
History
Contains historiographical essays engaging recent history publications.
Reviews in American History
The journal covers all areas of American history including economics, military history, women in history, law, political history and philosophy, religion, social history, intellectual history, and cultural history.
War in history
Peer reviewed articles which attempt to place military history into a broader definition of history by examining war in all its aspects: economic, social and political as well as purely military. Articles cover all time periods
Western historical quarterly
Presents original scholarly articles dealing with the North American West - the westward movement from the Atlantic to the Pacific, twentieth-century regional studies, the Spanish borderlands, Native American history, and developments in western Canada, northern Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii.
